Run The Race

We’re running the race; it’s a shameful disgrace,
Rushing to and fro all about the place,
Doing our best to try and keep pace,
Shattered inside like a broken vase.

Our morals and standards we are quick to erase,
Values of family and society we’re keen to displace,
It all seems to be just a tragic waste,
Stop the world, let’s get off and float into space.

Of mercy and kindness there is little trace,
Attitudes and ideas are as caustic as mace,
I just want to hide and cover my face,
So I can’t see facade’s transparent as lace.

Everyone wants but will never show grace,
Money and possessions are the goal of the chase,
Greed lust and lies are what people embrace,
I think I’ll stop running….or end up a head case!

AUTHORS NOTE:
It really is a rat race on the Earth these days! Everything moving so fast, people going to and fro, the days and years go by so fast. While we are busy rushing around doing our thing, we have forgotten everything that is really important along the way. Just what has this busy world cost us? Think of the time we could have with our families and all the other important things in life if we took more time for a breather from life. Maybe we could recover some of the morals that we didn’t notice disappearing over the years. Perhaps we would recover our intolerance for evil deeds that seem to be rampant and unpunished these days. Makes you wonder hey???
