The Rock Of Offence

Beware of the rock that lies in your path,
Lest you trip and fall head first.
The stumbling stone, the rock of offence,
Your Godly bubble it’s sharp edge will burst.

When strings of abuse are thrown your way,
It cuts deep, right to the heart.
Offence or forgiveness is the choice we must make,
One draws you closer, the other apart.

When the knife goes into your back with intent,
The resentment builds as if to explode.
You can pay back in kind or suffer in silence,
One builds your spirit, the other erodes.

When injustice occurs and the guilty are free,
Vengeance insists that they pay.
Call on your will to crush your emotion,
And the ways of God will win the day.

As we walk on the road with our eyes on the Lord,
These rocks are thrown in our path.
And some will trip and fall on their face,
And some will continue home to the hearth.

But as we trip, a forked road appears,
A path to the left and the right.
One leads to destruction, the other to peace,
One to darkness, the other to light.

So choose your way wisely and watch where you walk,
For the rocks are jagged and many.
Be wise in the spirit and master your will,
And with God’s help you wont trip on any.

AUTHORS NOTE:
There is a terrible danger when we take offence to something that it will turn into a grudge and eat away at our spirit until there is nothing left. If we trip, we must get up and dust ourselves off and then continue down the true path. Don't get dragged down the wrong path by letting your emotions rule over you. We have to learn to exercise power over will and keep dangerous emotions like anger and jealousy in check. But it is my humble opinion that it is better not to trip at all.
