Out With The Old

To put on the new man and be pleasing to God
The ways of the old man must go.
When we cast off old habits and shameful traits
Our love for the Lord we show.

The old mans way is to keep us down
Take from us the joy we have found.
A tool of the Enemy to rob us of faith
So we can be captured and bound.

The old man is the nagging voice
That feeds us doubt and hurt.
A negative influence to slow our growth
And grind us into the dirt.

But don’t despair there's something else
Within us, better and clean.
It’s a gift from God to a grateful Church
The new man, grand though unseen.

The new man is power from Heaven above
With which all things can be done.
It gives us the drive to do the Lord’s work
It proves that the fight can be won.

The new man inspires and gives us a goal
Our confidence grows day by day.
In Christ we are a new creation
Petty problems retreat away.

So let’s open our eyes to what is new
And throw out what is old.
Follow the lead of the new man within
Take authority, be confident and bold.

AUTHORS NOTE:
I’m not ready. I can’t do it. I’m a poor excuse for a Christian. Sound familiar? It does to me. That is the sound of your old man mouthing off. The new man which God has created in us is saying I will do it! I am ready! I am a fantastic servant for God! We have to remember that all things are possible to us if we believe, so lets set our goals and make positive steps to achieve them standing on faith in the face of obstacles, and let God do his work.
