Gods In High Places

Altars and statues with carvings and runes,
People look on with adoring faces.
A sacred place built amongst the sand dunes,
Which God does man serve when he builds the high places.

Great blocks of stone placed together in rows,
Awesome towers which cannot be erased.
Man worships the result of his toil I suppose,
Which God does man see when he sees the high places.

The standing stones strategically aligned,
Believers flock to the rituals with haste.
A place to be spiritual, scientifically designed,
Which God receives worship when man goes to high places.

The basilicas, cathedrals, temples and halls,
Where people gather weekly for a religious taste.
All stained glass and beauty from corner to wall,
Which God gets the glory at man’s treasured high places.

Will man ever learn in his time on this Earth,
That when it comes to the end the real God must be faced.
What will be the cost? Try to figure the worth,
Does man fear the God when he’s at the high places?

AUTHORS NOTE:
How the Israelites loved to build their high places and make a big deal out of going to there to worship and sacrifice. But every now and again a God fearing man like David would come along and destroy them. They did this because they knew that God wanted his people to worship him, not the places, structures or ceremonies that man created. Be very aware that there is a very significant difference between going to church to worship the Lord and going to church for the love of position or popularity, because as man gets attached to the things that he creates and can see, he creates his own high places.
